LML+ there is no registration. We do need a head count for attendance, email here or invite yourself on the facebook event page created.

Send email to- Lmldosomething@gmail.com

You will get tulips and the ship will set sail from the Walmart lot at 8AM.

Something more than just a bike race- FUNDRAISER.

Fundraiser history- Year 1 we raised $1300 for a young man in need. Year 2 we generated 400 lbs of food and $ for local food shelf. Year 3 the raiser brought in more than $2000 for a beautiful woman fighting cancer. Year 4 (last year) we rallied with the Bauers in support of Jason and his fight... Year 5 was cancer awareness and fund support to a single Mom.

Ethos: You are responsible for you. If you get stuck in one spot, you gotta get yourself out of it. Bring a phone, straight key for an SOS, or sky flares.

NOTE: The course will not be the same as last year. So disregard your bootleg GPS map. You rely on it, and it will cheat you.

THANKS TO MILLTOWN CYCLES & HARRY'S CAFE for their continued support!

"Racer's Redaay..."

"Charge!!!"

Saturday, 8AM, we head south via tulips to Milltown Cycles. Milltown Ben and his guys will have the welcome mat set out for you... Once you've had your fill of all things Faribault, time to head North back to Harry's cafe, where you can belly up to the scratch kitchen for some great dining, and drinks. (courtesy drink/ desert tickets to the first 40 donations).

Recon'd the route today. Roads are in great shape, don't let the iffy picture concern you. It's allgood (specially for the fats). Unfortunately we are going to have to keep it between the lines, my gauntlet (secret trails, swamp, ditch, pasture, etc) options have been removed from the route for many reasons. Not to fret, you wont get cheated on the day.

"Forward... March!"
REMINDERS:
  • Parking is the overflow Walmart lot just north of Harry's.
  • Registration is 7AM-8AM. We need to be quick so we can get the race on at 8.
  • Registration, inside Harry's, sign waiver/ select your class M, F, or Fat, get number plate, tulip notes, and pickup your race gift. Bathroom available if you need it (you will).
  • Swag Swap. Bring it to registration, and swap after the race at Harry's.
  • Fundraiser... What an awesome opportunity to race a bike for free and use whatever funds you are able to contribute to something greater... Recommended donations are $20 for the FUNDRAISER, and $5-10 for event insurance and race overhead.
  • Fundraiser- the first 40 people to donate at the race get a complimentary drink or desert ticket courtesy of Harry of Harry's Cafe.
  • Chris Gibbs and C5 Photography will be documenting the race. His work is excellent.
  • HealthSource Chiropractic will be at registration and demoing RockTape.
  • Local newspaper covering the event... http://sunthisweek.com/
  • Social, swag swap, awards- we have a corner table reserved in the bar from 2-5PM. Come speak the language with us LCR's and Milltown's...
If you get the opportunity make sure you 'thank' Harry and Milltown Ben for supporting this one off event... and THANK YOU for coming out to play and donate what you are able...

NOTE- I know, you all are thinking he never mentioned anything about bike type or tires... MTB, Crossbike, warbirds, freebirds, 29rs, 26's, 650B/ recombant, studds, knobs, endos, furious freds... It's all good (at some point). "Riddle on" as we LCR's say.

Update to the update

Time for the details man details...
  • PARKING- Please park in the overflow Walmart lot on the North Side of Harry's. My original plan of let's say 20-30 people has at least doubled, so we need to park out of the way of the Cafe customers. The Walmart lot is easy, they are okay with it.
  • REGISTRATION- 7AM-8AM. The restaurant will not be serving breakfast at our time, but you are welcome to use their bathroom and they offered to have fresh coffee...
  • HealthSource Chiropractic- Will be onhand at the registration, offering chiro info/care and a RockTape application... So if you've got a nagging injury, show up early to get it tapped up and be a crash test dummy.
  • RACE ROUTE- MotherNature is cooking up a spring soup... Chances are things are going to be  a mess... Embrace the misery of wet lacra and a drivetrain that misfires. Milltown will help you out at the halfway point...
  • The Gauntlet route, or not... TBD. Gotta be ridable (for the most part).
  • SWAG SWAP- Don't forget, you bring the prizes, and we swap...
NOTE: FIRST 40 PEOPLE TO DONATE- Get a free drink or desert coupon courtesy of Harry's!!!

The Elko Gauntlet. Spun me out dead in my tracks.

Updated Suspects (some are usual):
Josh Bauer, Audrey Baumgartner, Joel Benton, David Bruning, Jeff Bushendorf, Paul Carroll, Neil O Cary, John Cossette, Jack, Todd Fischer, Ryan Fitzgerald, Alana Fritz, Dan Funke, The Goat, Kevin Gonzales, Habs, Jay Henderson, Katie Hulback, Jonny Jensen, Raymond Jick, Shirely Johnson, Steve Johnson, Eddie, Pete Kennedy, Brent Kvittem, Susannah King, Joe Kjeer, Steve Knowlton, Alex Kopi Kohn,  Rob Legler, Marx Machine, Don leMac, Scott Meuelbroeck, Porter Million, Galen Murray, Brendan O'Brien, Rich Zilla, Benjamin Oney, Joe Pahr, Josh Peterson, Shad Prins, QPete, Gregorio Ramirez, Matt Riley, JJ Robb, Josh Roeser, Rocket Ray, Martin Rudnick, The Wonder Twins, Bob Shepherd,  Darryl Shoemaker, Ted Siefkes, David Strachan, Ben Swenka, Brett Swenson, Lisa Thompson, Evan Tweed, Horned, Bobby Vigil, Marcus Warrington, Nick Watts,  Brian Welch, Tim Werts, Drew Wilson, Jeff Young

Roster Update & Key Points

KEY POINTS FOR THE RACE: (most learned the hard way)

  • TULIPS. If you never used, be prepared. A tulip holder is a must. You can purchase at most LBS. You'll need a cycling computer, unless your name is Farm Team Scotty.
  • TULIPS. Will be handed in the form of a sheet of paper. Fold into quarters for directions on route.
  • TULIPS. Protect it. It's just paper. A clear plastic sleeve is the standard.
  • ARRIVAL/ HARRY'S CAFE- Please park in the BACK of the restaurant.
  • REGISTRATION: 7-8AM. Race will start as close to 8AM after all are registered. I expect registration to be a bit slow since none of us have ever done this. I am trying to keep it quick and simple. SWAG SWAP, don't forget, everybody brings something to swap. Swap will happen at the social, last goes first, and picks for the podium.
  • START- I will lead a neutral roll out from Harry's to the gravel across the way.
  • WHAT TO CARRY. I ride with a camelback. I don't care if it's not roadie cool. Whatever. You'll be riding each way at least 3 hours. If your a 2-3 bottle only rider. They might freeze. Then what?
  • NO DROP BAGS. One stop at Milltown is the game. The rest is on your own.
  • NO SAG WAGON. This is a race. Carry a phone, but there are dead zones. Don't know what a sag wagon is? Forget aboot it.
  • BIKE TYPE. Already mentioned enough, ride what you want. Fatbike class, yap.
  • CONDITIONS. With current snowcover on the ground I expect much of the route to be snow/ ice covered. I have 2 routes, 1 is a gauntlet, 2nd for conditions that do not allow riding the gauntlet (too much snow). Will see what Mother Nature has to say for the next 3 weeks.
  • MILLTOWN CYCLES CHECK POINT- Check in at Milltown, they'll provide the second Tulip notes, any aid and support that you need. Show Milltown Cycles some love!!!
  • FINISH- I have a guy, he's suppose to be the finish line official. If he's preoccupied riding wheelies because he is bored, a clipboard and a chair will be at the finish. Sign in with your name/ number and finish time on the sheet.
  • SOCIAL- Enjoy Harry's Cafe and the scratch kitchen dining, drink, and post race banter... SWAG SWAP and awards. Expected time, 3:30PM-5PM.
  • FUNDRAISER: THANKS FOR CONSIDERING A DONATION. We'll have a donation jar on hand ($20 recommended or whatever you/ your supporting cast can spare). FUNDRAISER LINK- DILLON BOROWICZ

Look for this guy at the finish line. If he's not there, a chair and clipboard will be.

This is it, no more random entry requests... Unless you speak the language.

Additional Names:
Bobby Vigil, Shirley Johnson, David Strachan, Josh Bauer, David Bruning, Philip Carlton, Evan Tweed, Joe Kjeer, Brian Welch, Audrey Baumgartner, Galen Murray, Joe Pahr

Usual Suspects:
Joel Benton, Jeff Bushendorf, Paul Carroll, Neil O Cary, John Cossette, Jack, Todd Fischer, Ryan Fitzgerald, Dan Funke, The Goat, Kevin Gonzales, Habs, Jay Henderson, Katie Hulback, Steve Johnson, Eddie, Pete Kennedy, Brent Kvittem, Susannah King, Steve Knowlton, Alex Kopi Kohn,  Rob Legler, Marx Machine, Don leMac, Scott Meuelbroeck, Porter Million, Brendan O'Brien, Rich Zilla, Benjamin Oney, Josh Peterson, Shad Prins, QPete, Gregorio Ramirez, Matt Riley, JJ Robb, Rocket Ray, Martin Rudnick, The Wonder Twins, Bob Shepherd,  Darryl Shoemaker, Ted Siefkes, Ben Swenka, Brett Swenson, Lisa Thompson, Horned, Marcus Warrington, Nick Watts, Tim Werts, Drew Wilson, Jeff Young

Got it? Good.

C5 Adventure Photography

Signing up to capture the event via moto is Chris Gibbs of C5 Adventure Photography.

Roster will be posted at some point.

A couple more weeks and we'll be in slop season...

Filling Up Quick- 14 spots remain.

First, "thanks" for the response. Already exceeded the number I was expecting. Now it's looking like I'll have to cap this at 50 racers. I just don't have enough sheep herders to keep you all in check. I will have Gilligan and Ginger helping me out.

This is what some of you will be looking at in the end.
I bet at least half of you have said "what are tulips?"

My response, "Pay attention, to the roads and what the guys around you are looking at." "If they don't respect the tulips, you ditch them." I call it "Lazy Dave syndrome". If you know Lazy Dave, YouknowwhatImean. Ragnarok Year 2, he said "notes, what? who needs notes..." He ended his DNF 10 miles off course.

Oh, this is tulip only. No gps coordinates. Old School. One might call it 'Mongo' tactics. You ride it, you can keep the way points. Remember there is a vortex out there, all electronic goes dead.

Update/ Blackjack!

I'm sure these guys will be out cheering you on at aboot mile 75...

Went right on past 21... On the way to 50, that'd be more like Uno.

Probly many more just want the tulips... I will hand over the tulips after the event if you dontate to this  FUNDRAISER.
